Stop the Stadium group/ protest MARCH.

Sat 2nd Aug , meet at midday at the corner of Frederick st and Great King, then MARCH to the Octagon, and listen to speakers. More info about the proposed Stadium on their website. Will be interesting to see how many Dunedinites are prepared to do the March, I would think it will need to be tens of thousands to make a differance. Heres your chance to make a visual impact, make the most of it!!.

Stop the Stadium march on Sat

Hoping for a good turnout - Stop the Stadium has attracted more than 600 financial members in a month.
The march won't be a grim angry affair but an affirmation of our support for Dunedin. I encourage everyone who wants to see Dunedin thrive to come along. There are lots of projects the DCC could throw our rates at that would benefit us all, but the stadium is NOT one of them.

sorry, I won't be there, and actujally I'm not sorry at all

The people who do join this march are negative minded and anti-progress and would rather save themselves a few dollars a month (that's those who are actually ratepayers and many probably aren't), than see this wonderful city keep itself up-to-date as a city.

These are people who always see the glass as half empty!

COME ON !!

WHY WOULD ANYONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND ODBECT A NEW STADIUM.YOU JUST HAVE TO LOOK AT THE LAST TEST MATCH HERE, ALL ACCOMODATION, MINI VANS, HOTELS, MOTELS, RESTURANTS, SHOPS, ETC HAD THE BEST WEEKEND IN AGERS.THIS IS ALL BECAUSE OF ATTRACTING LARGE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE FROM OUTSIDE THE CITY TO HERE.THE CITY IS ON A DOWNWARD SPIRAL AS FAR AS ATTRACTING PEOPLE HERE SO WHY WOULD'NT WE GET A FIRST CLASS STADIUM TO ATTRACT SPORTS EVENTS, ETC??WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD A NAME FOR PUTTING ON A DAMN GOOD EVENT SO WHY STOP NOW, IT WILL DESTROY THE REAL CHARACTOR THE CITY HAS GOING FOR IT. TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT HAMILTON HAS DONE OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS AND HOW IT HAS TAKE OFF!!! WE ARE SLIPPING OFF THE RADAR QUICKLY.

I certainly won't be there

Unlike the people attending the march, I want to stay living in a progressive city where I can get work (perhaps they don't mind about getting work). If we live in a retirement village where no-one wants to spend money on anything we aren't going to keep any citizens under the age of 60. If this is the case you can guarantee companies won't want to set up in business or stay in business here.

Stop the #@%!!$$ Stadium!!!

The new stadium is a RORT, a HAVE, a SCAM.

Rate-payers will have to shell-out for this shell for the next 20 YEARS.
Event promoters have said THEY WILL NOT SEND MORE EVENTS TO DUNEDIN no matter what.
The cost of $188,000,000 is LESS THAN HALF of what the business school estimates.
It will HAMSTRING other projects and activities for TWO DECADES, making Dunedin a WORSE place to live.

It's going to cost a vast amount of money AND not going to do us any good.
So WHY THE HELL would we want it????

This shows how small minded some Dunedinite's are!

I guess the comments against the stadium sum up the views no residents have of the City. No wonder people think Dunedin is backward, biggoted, dominated by retirees and anything but dynamic.

There were similar small minded fools who tried to stop the Wellington stadium. Luckily they were ignored and Wellington now has an asset to be proud of which has rejuvenated the city.

If the stadium fails to go ahead, it will be a huge loss for Dunedin.

We are not smallminded, just realistic

I've just read the comments above, First I agree the last test match we had we had was a boomer, but what about the other 364 days that it's not taking revenue per year- at the RATES payers expense. I AM a ratepayer and I don't see the point in a new stadium for these soft ruby players. the grass is just as good at the old one. and more seats.
They wont have big concerts here,Christchurch have a hard time fulling there stadium up, why come this way?
I say keep the old one and buy hot water bottles for the soft ruby players & commentators we now have.
