Jay Jays Dunedin

Went into this store to hopefully find a cheap tee shirt to go under something I had just bought. The 3 sales assistants were all at the back of the shop having a grand old time laughing about a skateboard belonging to one of the girls being run over. I found a top and decided to go and try the size on. I walked up to the changerooms (where the shop assistants were standing) and not one even acknowledged I was there. I tried all the fitting room doors which were all 'locked'. Not one assistant asked "would you like to try those on?'. I had to interupt them and ask for entry to a fitting room.
Upon exiting again not one assistant asked "how did that fit?" or anything of the type. I proceeded up to the checkout only to stand around waiting for the assistants who were not bothered about customers in the shop at all.
One male assistant was 'twiddling' a stick used to put clothing on high racks whilst the females were in great discussion. Needless to say I walked out without the sale.
JayJays your staff are young and possibly need the guidance of an older assistant to keep your store going. If I was the owner of this store one I would be feeling very ripped off with paying wages but also at the loss of sales. I noted 3 other people in the store at the same time also not be served/helped who in turn walked out.

Dear whizzer,

As the Manager of the Dunedin JayJays, I check on womf every few months to see what retailers are doing right and wrong in Dunedin. I was so shocked to come across my very own store on here.

I would like to think my store would actually provide more than a hello, would you like to try these on, thank you, All basic customer service. We do really care for our customers and I know my team and I get a lot of enjoyment out of helping and making people happy. So I am mortified to hear that the staff were not even paying you the respect to acknowledge you and offer you a fitting room. After all, its not just what we get paid to do, But helping someone should be simple human nature.

I have your womf printed out in the staffroom and my staff and myself are feeling very foolish and we definetly know better. Thank you for bringing this to my attention I only wish I had come on sooner, I would love to get in contact with you and have you give my store another chance.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Kim Waddick,
Dunedin JayJays Store Manager
